PREMISE
The decades-spanning activities
of ASPHI towards people with disabilities has enabled them
to consolidate a notable expertise in relation to national
and international knowlege about enabling information technology.
The continuous contact with users has enabled a growing demand
for training, support and consultancy applied to disability
at work and in education.
STEP was born to meet this demand,
to offer qualified support for optimum use of information
technology.
WHO IT IS AIMED
AT
It is aimed at all those who
need information technology as an enabling tool for people
with disabilities, to disabled people themselves, their families,
their educators, carers: in short, all those who are involved
in disability.
HOW IT OPERATES
Through the support of experts,
educators and technical staff, ASPHI gives information about
access technologies, eductional material and awareness issues
about disability to groups and single individuals - whether
they are enquirying about sensory impairment, learning disabilities
or multiple disabilities.
CENTRE ACTIVITIES
- Provide information,
consultancy, training and support over Technologies for
sensory and learning disabilities
- It is an information
centre with :
a book library
a video-library
a collection of experiences of the use of technology.
- It is a laboratory for
users interested in setting up related projects and traineeships
towards the use of information technology orientated towards
the reduction of handicaps.
